Tiers and pricing
Rationarium’s hosting tiers are differentiated by simultaneous-user capacity — the number of instructors and students who can work concurrently during peak load (such as simultaneous exams). We sell dedicated servers, sized to the load your institution actually runs.
Hosting starts at $6,000 per year for a dedicated WeBWorK server with standard concurrency. Higher-capacity tiers are quoted against your actual concurrency requirements.
LMS integration (LTI 1.3) adds a one-time setup fee of $500 and an annual fee of $500 for ongoing configuration, testing across upgrades, and integration support.
Every institution’s needs are different, so we quote against your specific enrollment, LMS, and timeline rather than publishing a rigid price list.
Frequently asked
How is this different from hosting WeBWorK ourselves? You don’t need to hire a sysadmin. We handle server provisioning, software updates, security patches, backups, monitoring, and incident response. Your IT team doesn’t touch it.
Can we migrate from an existing WeBWorK server? Yes. We migrate your courses, student data, and configuration from any existing WeBWorK 2.x installation. The process requires no downtime for your students.
What happens to our data if we leave? We provide a full data export — database dump, course folders, configuration files — and delete your data from our systems within 30 days. No lock-in. WeBWorK is open source; your content is yours.
Do you support LTI 1.3? Yes. All new deployments use LTI 1.3 (LTI Advantage).
Where is our data stored? All servers are hosted in US data centers (DigitalOcean, New York region). Data is never transferred outside the US.
